Betty Lou Cash, 78, of Amherst, died Wednesday, August 13, 2025, in Lynchburg. Born March 22, 1947, she was a daughter of the late Theodore Taft and Mary Jane Campbell Cash.

Betty had been a Benefits Supervisor for the Amherst County Department of Social Services, retiring after more than 30 years. She was also a member of Piney River Baptist Church. Betty enjoyed watching the deer from her front porch, and spending time at home.

She is survived by her grandson, who was her pride and joy, Jonathan Neighbors; a granddaughter, Kaleigh Matthews; brothers, Delbert Cash (Hazel), and Gene Cash (Betty); sisters, Hazel Stewart, and Martha Meeks (Donald); a sister-in-law, Daphine Cash; bonus children, Ronald Gordon Meeks Jr. “RG”, and Corey Dean Meeks; an “adopted” grandson, Colton; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, and a host of other loving relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by the father of her children, Ronald Meeks; daughters, Rhonda Meeks (Neighbors), and Tonya Harris (Matthews); brothers, Thomas Lester Cash, and George Lincoln Cash; a sister, Mary Magdalene Mays; brothers-in-law, David Mays, and Waller Stewart, and a sister-in-law, Regina Cash.

A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 20, 2025, in Mt. Pleasant Methodist Church Cemetery by Pastor Carroll Martin and Rev. John Campbell. The family will receive friends at other times at the home of Martha and Donald Meeks.
