He is also survived by grandsons Robert Fitzgerald, Jason Cash (Stephanie), Brandon Cash (Margaret), Christopher Olson and honorary grandson Joshua Smegal. Delbert was preceded in death by his son Darryl Cash and granddaughter Jessica Fitzgerald as well as his siblings Lester Cash, Lincoln Cash, Betty Meeks, Magdalene Mays and brothers-in-law, Waller Stewart, David Mays and sister-in-law Regina Cash.

He loved his family and worked hard to care and provide for them. He has taken special care of Hazel for over 10 years due to her health decline.

Delbert loved his farm and tending to his cattle. He passed his love and knowledge down to his son Randall and grandson Brandon, who has been at his side for many years and continues to care for the cattle and farm.

He also loved bear hunting and fishing. He spent many days fishing for natives or walking through the mountains after a pack of dogs just enjoying the chase and spending time with his friends. He was also a life-long member of Piney River Baptist Church.

He truly enjoyed time with family and friends. Get togethers at the cabin and in later years at the shop and really anywhere he ran into them at.

His niece Angela stated “Definitely the gentlest, kind, honest, soft-spoken man I know. A man who worked hard his entire life, did it for his family who he loved so dearly. Uncle Delbert, a legend to us all, one who touched our hearts so deeply. He will be missed by all who knew him.”

A funeral service will be held 12 p.m. Monday, December 15, 2025, at Piney River Baptist Church by Rev. James Bryant with burial in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
