Deloris Ponton Terry

Deloris Ponton Terry, 80, of Amherst, passed away on Sunday, December 15, 2024. Born in Nelson, October 8, 1944, she was a daughter of the late William Ponton and Flora White Ponton.

Deloris had been a data clerk for Genworth Financial for 38 years and was a member of Jonesboro Baptist Church. She loved to read mystery novels and enjoyed “old” rock n’ roll music. However, her greatest joy was found in her family and in keeping her grandkids. Deloris was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed. 

She is survived by her son, Ricky Terry (Tammy) of Lynchburg; grandchildren, Samantha Terry, Brittney Terry, and Gwyneth Terry, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Homer Ponton, and her sister, Hattie Ponton.

The family will hold a private service after the first of the year.
