George Massie Loving Sr., 82, of Arrington, departed this life on Sunday, February 1, 2026. Born in Massies Mill, April 2, 1943, he was a son of the late William Loving and Kate Oakcrum Loving.
George had worked in landscaping and tree service for many years, putting his knowledge and skills as a horticulturist to use for many. He was a life-long member of Oak Hill Baptist Church and served his country faithfully during the Vietnam War in the United States Army, receiving several medals of honor for his service.
George put God first and loved his family with everything he had. He was always ready with a generous spirit, a positive word, or sharing his pearls of wisdom with loved ones to ensure they would be ready to face the world and all its challenges. He will be deeply missed and his memories forever cherished.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his beloved wife of 53 years, Debra Y. Loving; sons, Michael Loving and George M. Loving Jr.; daughters, Frances Toliver (Glenwood), and Janelle Loving; brothers, Joseph Loving Sr. (Shirley), and Robert Loving (the late Charlotte); sisters, Sadie Jackson (Jerome), Rachel Hicks (James), and Bernice Sanders (John); seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews, and numerous cherished relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Chester Loving, and John Loving Sr. (Frances).
A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, February 14, 2026, at Oak Hill Baptist Church by Rev. Hendricks, with burial to follow in Oak Hill Memorial Gardens. Viewing/visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
