Gillie Robert Hanson "Gil"

Gillie Robert Hanson “Gil”, 64, of Massies Mill, passed away Thursday, October 1, 2026, at his home. Born in Glencove, NY, he was the son of the late Leonard Hanson and Roberta Kidd Hanson.

Gillie had been a welder, working for Frank and Flowers and Flippin Seaman’s Orchard packing shed. He enjoyed fishing, boating, and gardening, and had a love for “rock n’ roll”.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 43 years, Ingrid Hanson; a son, Jon Hanson (Tan) of Massies Mill; a sister, Sigrid Mirabella of Amherst; nieces and nephew, Layla Klein, Lila Guthridge, Leah Dittmer, and Tameria and Kirk Morgan; an uncle, Richard Ketchum, and a daughter-in-law, Sarah Hanson.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Ray Hanson, and a sister, Lee O’Leary.

A funeral service will be held 4 p.m. Sunday, October 11, 2026, at Byrum-Parr Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
