Harry Norman Staten

Harry Norman Staten was born on July 25, 1940, in Amherst, Va to the late James T. Staten and Margaret Richardson Staten. He was the sixth of nine children.

At an early age, he accepted Christ at St. Paul Baptist Church in Amherst, VA, a church founded by his late grandfather, Eldridge L. Staten.

Harry was united in marriage to the late Linda Ann Epps Staton of Roseland, Virginia. They shared 53 years of marriage before her passing in 2024. Harry was employed by H.K. Porter and Buffalo Air Handling, where he worked faithfully until his retirement. In his leisure time, he found great joy in fishing, hunting, and gardening.

Harry was preceded in death by three sisters, Rosa Marie Staten, Shirley Woolfolk, and Marion Johnson, and three brothers, James, Eddie, and Bernard Staten.

He leaves to cherish his memory two daughters, Nan Staton and Kathy Henderson, both of Richmond, Virginia, and a wonderful granddaughter, Nyra Staton of North Carolina. He is also survived by two sisters, Janice Wilson (Terry) of Powder Springs, Georgia and Phyllis Staten of Lorton, Virginia; two sisters-in-law,

Shirley Staten of Lynchburg, Virginia and Ernestine Staten of Washington, D.C., and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends whom he loved dearly.

A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, January 3, 2026 at St. Paul Baptist Church by Bishop M.D. Mays, Officiating, and Minister Toney Curtis, Eulogist, with burial to follow in the Homeplace Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
