Horace Leroy Spencer Sr.

Horace Leroy Spencer Sr., 79, of Arrington, VA passed peacefully January 25, 2026, surrounded by loved ones. Horace was born April 23, 1946, in Nelson County, VA, a son of the late Christine Carter Spencer and Maryland Spencer.

Horace leaves to cherish his memory, his loving and devoted wife of 60years, Betty Spencer of Arrington; son, Horace Spencer Jr. (Ann) of Grottoes, VA; two daughters, Lolita Flowers of Charlottesville, VA, and Trella Giles (James) of Ruckersville, VA; seven grandchildren, Tressa, Telisha, Lantae, Tyrah, Taylor, Brennon, and Tierra. He also leaves behind one sister, Eunice Briggs of Arrington, VA; two brothers, James Spencer of Waynesboro, VA, and Kirby Spencer of Arrington, VA; eight great-grandchildren, and an abundance of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Maryland Spencer Jr., and a grandson, Malcolm Stewart.

A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, February 8, 2026, at Byrum-Parr Funeral Home by Rev. Sheldon Page with burial to follow in New Mount Memorial Garden. Viewing/visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. The family will receive friends after the service at the Shipman Civic Center.
