Kathy Wright Massie

Kathy Wright Massie, 68, of Madison Heights, passed away on Monday, February 23, 2026, in Lynchburg. Born February 18, 1958, she was a daughter of the late Alvin Wright and Barbara McFall Wright.

Kathy had been a museum shop associate for Thomas Jefferson’s Poplar Forest, a position she adored from the moment she started, and was a lifetime member of Bethlehem Methodist Church, where she faithfully served in various capacities, including Treasurer. Kathy was also active in the DAR, most recently serving as Regent for the Blue Ridge Chapter. Kathy also enjoyed reading and cherished time she spent with family and friends.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 40 years, Wayne Jones Massie, Jr.; her daughter, Mary Catherine Massie (John Holt); her sister, Susan Wright (Alvin Stratton); nephew, Nathan Hunter (Kelsey Moore); niece, Ann Pierce Bradshaw (Josh), and their children, Grayson and Keatyn Ann, and a host of other loving relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, February 28, 2026, at Bethlehem Methodist Church led by Rev. Ed Childress with burial to follow in the church cemetery. All are invited to a reception and visitation in the fellowship hall following the burial.
