Mae Oliver Thompson

Mae Oliver Thompson, 88, of Tyro, passed away on Thursday, December 25, 2025 at the home of her grandson. Born in Charlottesville, October 19, 1937, she was a daughter of the late Wallace and Laura Fitzgerald Oliver.

Mae had work for the Nelson County Public School System, serving in various capacities, and had been the assistant manager for the Nelson Co. School Employee’s Credit Union. She also attended Woodland Baptist Church.

She is survived by her daughter, Diana Edwards (Paul) of New York; step-children, Jonathan Thompson (Cindy) and their son, Roman, of Lovingston, and Dana Neitz (Jason) of Florida; grandson, Bruce Edwards of Tyro; great-grandchildren, Dylan Wiseman, Danielle Wiseman, and Landon Edwards (Trinity), all of Tyro; great great grandchildren, Brynlee Mae Edwards, and Levi Randolph Edwards; sister-in-law, Jeanie Oliver; nieces, Phyllis Harvey, and Linda Martini; numerous nieces and nephews, and a host of other loving relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Raymond Oliver, Samuel Oliver, Lewis Oliver, and Johnny Oliver, and her sister, Laura Bell Zirkle.
