Nell Lawhorne Terry Everitt

Nell Lawhorne Terry Everitt of Roseland died Monday, September 21, 2026, at Fairmont Crossing Health & Rehabilitation Center in Amherst. Nell was born August 21, 1939, to the late James Lucian and Bessie Pearl Snead Lawhorne, and was a lifelong resident of Nelson County.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Cleveland Terry, Jr.; a son, Marion Lee Terry; a son-in-law, Billy Zirkle; three brothers, Willie Carr, Dickie Lawhorne and Donald Lawhorne, and five sisters, Corrine Painter, Elizabeth Malzhon, Robbie Groff, Gladys Luongo, and Margaret Fitzgerald.

She is survived by her second husband, Shelby Everitt; a son, Larry Terry of Roseland; two daughters, Audrey Terry Wimer (David) of Roseland, and Mary Terry Zirkle of Tyro, and two stepsons, Ronnie Everitt (Sarah) of Love, and Paul Everitt (Carol) of Fishersville; three granddaughters, Mandy Baker (Bobby), Sarah Fitzgerald (Tanner), and Genny Huffman (Bobby); four grandsons, Cory Terry, Dustin Clark, Brandon Terry (Lauren), and Robert Strickler Jr.; a step granddaughter, Emily Everitt; eleven great-grandchildren, Hunter Baker (Abby), Hannah Baker, Allie, Abbey and Gage Fitzgerald, Ava and Elena Clark, Julia and Reese Huffman, Kassidy and Kyleigh Terry, and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family would like to express our sincere gratitude to the staff at Fairmont Crossing Health and Rehabilitation Center, and Gentle Shepherd Hospice for the compassionate care of our loved one.

A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Monday, September 28, 2026, at Byrum-Parr Funeral Home by Rev. John Campbell with burial to follow in Jonesboro Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, September 27, 2026, at the funeral home.
