On Tuesday morning, April 22, 2025, William Adolph Paige Sr., 96, of Tye River, VA earned his wings and took God’s hand and went to glory, surrounded by his children, at his residence. Born in Tye River, VA May 15, 1928, he was a son of the late Walter and Eunice Paige.
William attended public school in Tye River, VA. He served in the United States Army as a Sergeant during World War II, from December 7, 1950, to November 21, 1952, with an honorable discharge. Following his discharge, he came home to take care of his younger brothers and sisters.
William loved fishing and gardening and would sit a long time talking about the past. He was baptized at Oak Grove Baptist Church and later joined Crusaders for Christ New Life Church in Lynchburg, VA, where he attended until the end.
William was a loving husband to his late wife of 68 years, Mary Jennette Spencer Paige. He also loved and was a devoted father to his children.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Garland Paige, Nathaniel Paige, and MacArthur Paige, and three sisters, Frances Paige, Fannie Woody, and Shelton P. Small.
He leaves to mourn, three loving daughters, Jacqueline R. Paige, Annette Paige Irving (Raymond), and Victoria A. Paige Turner (William); three sons, William A. Paige Jr. (Joyce), Deacon Bernard Paige (Deaconess Dianne), and Pastor Victor A. Paige Sr. (Co-Pastor Shirley Paige); brother, Sherman Paige (Shelia); thirteen grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; numerous nieces and nephews, and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 10, 2025, at Byrum-Parr Funeral Home by Rev. Victor Paige Sr., Eulogist, and Co-Pastor Shirley Paige, Officiating. Burial will follow in the McDaniel Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday, May 9, 2025, at the funeral home.
